The Remains of Valentine's Day

On the evening of Valentine's Day 2019, I was out walking in my neighborhood, close to an elementary school. Crossing the street, I saw the little chalky heart candies dropped here and there on the road and on the sidewalk. I assumed that either someone's bag of candy had a hole in it or as the person reached into his or her pocket, a few more hearts fell on the newly fallen snow. They might be tiny colored candies, but they are quickly recognizable.
