Shoe on the Road

I drove by Byerly’s in Edina and saw a woman’s shoe in the middle of the road. The following evening the shoe was still there. After I parked my car in the garage, I walked up the street. When I picked up the shoe, I discovered that the Italian made shoe was my shoe size, 8.5 medium, and had a broken heel. I added it to my found object collection, thinking it would become part of some future sculpture.
A few days later, I saw some yellow basswood leaves chase across South Ewing Avenue. I visualized a painting with a blacktopped road, a yellow stripe, golden leaves scattered with the found shoe attached to the painting. The painted silk leaves replicate the real basswood leaves.
